What We Believe

For over 100 years, East End PM Church has served the community with the Gospel through our love of the people here.

Our Mission

We exist to make disciples of Jesus through the presentation of the gospel in our community. We aim to love God and Love our neighbors in light of Jesus’ love for us.

We believe in the truth of the Bible.

We believe in one God made up of three equal persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

God has given us His word, the Bible. to explain to us who he is, what he has done for us and what he wants from us. We believe the Bible is the Word of God, meaning it is without error and is our standard for life and godliness.

The Bible tells us that God created the world and everything in it, including mankind. The first humans, Adam and Eve had a perfect life and God gave them free run of the Garden of Eden with only one restriction, do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  After being tempted, they both ate from the tree, committing the first sin. This brought God’s curse and wrath upon the earth and mankind. Because of Adam’s disobedience to God every man is born with sin and are enemies of God.

God is a holy, pure God who cannot tolerate sin. Because we are all sinners, we are in need of someone to save us that has not sinned.

In the Old Testament, God set up a sacrificial system to cover the sins of his people. This was only a temporary solution that was required over and over again.  This system was created by God to demonstrate that no man could redeem himself, by attempting to fulfill the commands of God. Sin had corrupted man and prevented this from being possible. They needed a savior to fulfill it for them.

“God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” - John 3:16

That was the greater picture of God’s story for mankind. God loved his creation so much, he sent his Son, Jesus, into the world to save us from our sin.  Jesus, the very Son of God, came to earth as a man to be used as our sacrifice. He was crucified on the cross, where he bore our sins and our punishment.

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed, for you were like sheep going astray but now you have returned to the Shepherd and overseer of your souls.” - 1 Peter 2 24-25

Jesus the perfect man-God died bearing our sin but he did not remain in the grave but he rose from the dead and lives today as Lord and Savior to all who believe.

Because of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, eternal life is promised to all those who believe and have faith in the Him.

We believe that we are called to make disciples.

“Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” - Matthew 28:16-20

Jesus called his followers to preach the Gospel to all those that might listen. Our church’s sole purpose is to represent the Gospel of Jesus to our community. As a part of the body of Christ, our members are a family. We care for one another, and spend time together, just as the disciples did. There are many hurting people in East End, Wilkes-Barre. We hope and pray that we would be a spiritual and physical respite for those people.
